73 VW Bug
« on: 10/09/08, 12:07 PM »

Hello everyone.
I hope I'm posting this in the right place, please excuse me if I'm not, i'm new around here!
I was wondering if any of you could give me some guidance on my project.  I have a 73 Flat screen VW Beetle in need of a body-off resto and I want to install air ride.  Being as awkward as I am I want to run air shocks all round, as I believe these will just replace the original dampers and not require any brackets welding on.  I'm currently looking into the possibility of using 'Shockwaves' on the rear, not sure on the front yet.
Also I have been wondering if I could do such things as 3 wheeling using Air on a short chassis such as the Bugs.
Sorry for being a bit random and disjointed. Any advice or help would be gratefully received, the Beetle's been in my garage for the past 8 years... Shocked
Cheers,
Andy

Check out airkewld for all you beetle air suspension needs.  They sell beams it bags, to shocks.   Another good one would be KCW forums.  They have all the measurements and directions to build your own beam, rear end, and anything else you'll need.

Side note, I have a set of the air shocks from airkewld never used.  Thought about using them on my 72 fastback but they won't work.  $200.00 plus ship and they are yours, cheaper then airkewld.

God luck.
