KP Components 88-98 GM Fullsize Print E-mail

ImageKP Components produces some of the best bolt-on aftermarket air ride suspension systems around.  One such beast is the 4 Link with Cantilever attachments for the 88-98 GM Fullsize pickup.  This tutorial was put together by the folks at KP Components and ShowTruckScene.com.  This install shouldn't take more than a day if you have all the right tools, and even shorter if you have a buddy helping you.  The installation of this kit is very straight forward as well.  Photos courtesy of Dan (Dangler) Winchester.

Some tools you'll need:
- Wrenches
- Angle or die grinder
- Large hammer
- Drill with proper drill bit (uni-bits work great too)

Here is the rear bag bracket with the cantilever and shock mount.

Cut the rivets on the rear factory hanger.

Cut the rivets on the front factory hanger.

Image

Remove the rivets from the rear hanger.

Image

Now remove them from the front hanger.

Image

Using your hammer ofchoice, remove the hangers from the frame. Now would be a good time to clean the frame.

Image

Bolt on the rear brackets with the 5 matching holes.

Image

Mark te missing holes on the frame so you can drill them out.

Image

Here you can see the marked holes in red.

Image

Grab your drill and get to work drilling them out.

Image

After all that hard work, move up to the front and easily bolt on the front brackets.

Image

After your break, mount the rear brackets.

Image

Now you can mount the axle saddles to the bottom of the axles with the provided hardware.

Image

Install the 4 link bars and the parking break bracket.

Image

Connect the link bars to the axle. Don't forget to adjust your pinion angle properly first.

Image

Now you can mount the cantilever bars and the 'dog bones' supplied.

Image

Install the bags with the proper hardware.

Image

Now install the shocks.

Image

We had to clearance the notch for the bolt in panhard bar mount.

Image

Install the panhard and center the rear end.

Image

And now you have your parallel 4 link with cantilever attachments laid out on 22's.

Image

All aired up, pretty good lift.
